Records Fall at EOPM C V Challenge
The Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod Series points leader Tommy “FAST” Franklin proved to be just that. Heading into the EOPM Fall Nationals at Piedmont Dragway October 18th & 19th Tommy Franklin and company held a close 3 round lead over defending EOPM Champion Randy “Smooth” Weatherford and when the smoke cleared Tommy Fast had extended his lead in the Championship battle.
After the final round of qualifying Todd Tutterow sat a top the leader board with a 3.733 second run, Tommy Franklin and Danny Perry followed close behind with a pair of 3.77 passes, Randy Weatherford posted a career best 3.797 @ 200.62 , Chris Rini 3.801, Jay Cox 3.819, Quain Stott yes this is not a misprint Quain Stott returned to a Nitrous Injected car prepared by Steve Vick to nail down the number 7 slot posting a 3.852, and Travis Harvey rounding out the top 8 with a 3.869 setting the quickest and fastest field ever for an Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod event.
During the elimination rounds Tommy “FAST Franklin, and Todd “King Tutt” Tutterow marched their way into the final’s setting up a classic Nitrous verses Supercharged final round with the two fastest cars all weekend meeting to crown the Champion. Tommy FAST proved once again why he is the EOPM points leader, posting a 3.751 @ 199.91 mph over King Tutt’s fading 5.177 to take the win. This championship weekend shaped up to be the an unprecedented event for the EOPM. The fans went crazy over the quickest and fastest side by side runs in history.
The Extreme Outlaw Top Sportsman Series saw number 1 qualifier Glenn Teets III take the final round victory over EOPM series points leader and number 2 qualifier Mike Alexander. In Extreme Outlaw Jr Dragster Courtney Howard took the crown defeating Austin Terrell in their final round match up.
The next exciting EOPM event will be held November 1st for the Dart Machinery EOPM Nationals in memory of Stuart Williams and Kevin Bowen. Don’t miss it, the records will likely fall once again.
